The Estonian Sports Association Kalev organized the 21st Paul Keres Memorial on 6-8th January in Tallinn, Estonia.

The Preliminary 7-round Swiss tournament with the time control 15′+10” was held on Friday and Saturday. Top four finishers qualified for the Main tournament which was played on Sunday. Total 86 players competed.  The tournament took place in Viru Sokos hotel conference center.

The preliminary tournament was won by Tarvo Seeman, three more players qualified to the final. Results you may found here.

In the final Alexei Shirov was leading throughout the tournament and was joined after last round by young Russian GM Vladimir Fedoseev. Shirov looked disappointed but anyway he nearly repeated his result from last year when he was clear first. Jaan Ehlvest was third after loosing to Fedoseev in round four after that he slowed down and only the crucial last round win against Volodin brought him the honours. Full table you may look here.

On Saturday there was match between Estonia and Finland on 50 boards. Estonia won convincingly
