FIDE president found a moment to visit Tallinn the capital of Estonia last week.

It was followed after his visit to Lithuania and Latvia. More about these meetings you may found on the official FIDE website.
About his visit to Estonia one could read the following on http://www.fide.com/component/content/article/1-fide-news/5777-working-visit-of-fide-president-to-estonia.html

“On December 5th the FIDE President arrived on a working visit to Estonia. In Tallinn he visited the chess club where the Paul Keres memorial room is located. There Kirsan Ilyumzhinov met with the new President of Estonian Chess Federation Andrei Korobeinik, famous Estonian GM Jaan Ehlvest, the Head of the General Education Department at the Ministry of Education and Research Ms Irene Kaosaar and the editor of Argo publishing house which issued the chess book and notebook, Mr. Andres Adamson. The concrete steps of the implementation of Chess in Schools programme were discussed at the meeting and it was decided to run the pilot project in 2012.”

Beside above mentioned meeting there was dinner in one of the most adored gourmet restaurant in Tallinn the Egoist. Present were vice mayor of Tallinn Mihhail Kõlvart who hosted the dinner, president of Estonia Olympic Committee Mr Mart Siimann and others.
During the dinner several topics were discussed among them the possibility to include chess into winter Olympic games and the possibility to build chess center in Tallinn additional to the Chess House named after Paul Keres. This project was started by Kirsan years ago but the economical recession put it on hold. In Riga the city already gave a spot for this project and I am sure this project finds some initiative in Tallinn as well.
The teaching manual for children “Chess Gymnasium” was praised by FIDE officials and most likely is going to be the cornerstone of teaching manuals in Baltic states at least.
